Centered on the port city of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, Stonehammer became the first North American member of the Global Geoparks Network in 2010. Stonehammer Geopark is a big place. It covers 2,500 km², connecting parks and geological sites to explore the region’s geological history. The geopark is a partnership of communities and organizations that have geological stories to tell in a variety of ways.

This guide highlights geosites best suited for public education and tourism. Many of the geosites are in public parks, but some are found along roadsides. The geosites in this guide have been selected because they are relatively safe in addition to having great geology. Features can be observed without the need to climb or use special equipment.

A Guide to Stonehammer Geopark is bilingual and includes an introduction into the history and geology of the region, information about 16 geosites and a large fold-out map highlighting the rock types in the region and the 16 geosite locations.
