Collection: Hidden House Pottery
Rachel Morouney realized her childhood dream and became a professional potter in 1979. she built her first kick wheel with her husband, Bob, and father-in-law. Over 30 years later, she still uses the original kick wheel every day.
The greatest influence on her work was in 2005, when she and her husband moved to Japan for a year. The diversity of handmade ware and the value placed on it in Japan was deeply moving and incredibly inspiring for Rachel. They visited pottery towns, studied with a Japanese pottery sensei, learned Japanese calligraphy and experienced many culturally important ceremonies.
Rachel continues to draw inspiration for her pieces from nature, her garden and her travels. She is best known for her hand-painted blue and white pottery. Her studio is located in Otter Creek, New Brunswick.
